With its fabulous location,
Overwater House takes full advantage of the magical sunsets.
Although in a peaceful location, the house is a short distance from the famous village of Stein, approximately 1 mile by car, closer along the beach although this can be quite treacherous underfoot. Stein is essentially a row of white-washed, terraced houses right at the water’s edge. Despite its tiny size, Stein is blessed by two fabulous places to eat; the acclaimed, ‘Lochbay Seafood Restaurant’ and the idyllic Stein Inn, the oldest on the island. In fact, Skye seems to have more than its fair share of excellent restaurants: the internationally renowned ‘Three Chimneys’ restaurant is approximately 20 minutes drive away, or ‘The Old School Room’ in Dunvegan, some five miles away is highly recommended as are many of the local hotels. The eastern side of Waternish offers wonderful views towards Uig & the Trotternish peninsular.
The village of Dunvegan, home to the famous castle, offers excellent facilities – a characterful bakery, chocolate shop & cafe, organic grocers, small but densely packed convenience store, post office, garage & newsagents. There is a large supermarket in Portree.
The Waternish peninsular has attracted a host of highly talented individuals so there are several galleries and ‘attractions’ including artists, potters, printmakers, and a couple of wool related studios.
