The house is a little quirky
with a mix of old and new, some interesting colours, fabrics and artefacts.
Note from the Owners
Our first holiday to Skye was abysmal; a shabby, depressing cottage combined with days of rain. However, during that miserable week we visited Waternish & experienced the magic of the place. Many people have stories of the ‘pull’ of the place & the tremendous changes people have made to their lives in order to live there.
It was during a holiday some 4 years ago when we saw the house for sale. Although we weren’t looking to buy a house, we realised it was in such a special position & borrowed every penny to buy it. The repercussions of this decision have been huge but we don’t regret it for a second. Every time we return to Overwater we are amazed by the location, the size of the place and the pleasure we get from simply being in the house.
We didn’t want to create a bland, high street catalogue, neutral holiday home. Although the building lacks intrinsic character we have tried to make the place a little quirky with some interesting colours, furnishings and artefacts. We want our visitors, like us, to enjoy simply being in the house.
We have a fantastic housekeeper and caretaker who can be contacted if you have any problems during your stay. We visit regularly ourselves and try to maintain the house to the highest possible standard.
